Sheriff Dan Rhodes is a popular guy. Well, at least with readers of the series of mystery books by novelist Bill Crider that feature the down-home officer of the law. The convicts, crooks and cretins Rhodes arrests, not so much. The sheriff is wrestling with pigs and thieves in The Wild Hog Murders, the 18th Dan Rhodes mystery. Set in a small town in Texas thatยs overrun with feral hogs, Murders mixes angry hunters, a couple of wannabe badass bikers who are more ass than bad, and a talk show host with big aspirations. Needless to say, it ainยt pretty.
Crider wonยt have to come far for this reading and signing session; he lives in Alvin. 6:30 p.m. Murder by the Book, 2342 Bissonnet. For information, call 713-524-8597 or visit www.murderbooks.com. Free.
