We’re sure it’s nothing personal against the planet’s largest country, but Sam VanBibber says, “I think people are sick and tired of Made in China.” VanBibber, the former owner of now-defunct vintage clothing store Wear it Again Sam, has made a career out of making something new out of something old. “I had boxes and boxes of broken jewelry, and the steampunk movement became more popular, and I thought, ‘I can do this,’” VanBibber tells us. Now, VanBibber breathes new life into springs, cogs, skeleton keys and clock faces by reassembling them into bracelets, necklaces and earrings. Today VanBibber will pass on her new-Victorian aesthetic in her Steampunk Earring-Making Class, a beginner-level class offered through Art Asylum. 6 to 8:30 p.m. 1230 Texas. For information, call 713-224-5220. $60.
