The setting is England, 1927. Preparations are under way for the wedding of the decade…but the groom is dead. Was it suicide? Was it murder? Was it his brother? His fiancée? The maid? Everyone has a motive in the classic whodunit farce Murder at the Maner. Murphy’s Law — that is, ‘Anything that can go wrong will go wrong’ — is the rule in this spoof of amateur theater in which the actors are as clueless as the characters they play, scenery collapses, cues are missed and lines are flubbed. Nicholas C. Abrams, artistic director for the new acting troupe Footlights Houston, says the show is “guaranteed to have you rolling in the aisles. Murder at the Maner is a hysterical romp through the worst of amateur dramatics and the more things go wrong, the more it makes for hilarious comedy.”
