This morning Whiteย Oak Music Hall, the deluxe multi-stage music venue now underย construction on Houston’s near Northside, announced its grand openingย date and initial concert lineup for its 40′ x 40′ outdoor stage. Onย tap for the opening weekend are the French electronic moodscapes ofย M83 (April 9); as well as young UK synth-pop trio CHVRCHES (Aprilย 29); and a multigenerational psych-pop rager on Memorial Day weekendย featuring the Flaming Lips, Roky Erickson, Title Fight, DIIV and Nadaย Surf on May 29.
โIโm excited toย see M83, CHVRCHES, and The Flaming Lips play outdoors with theย downtown Houston skylineย as the backdrop;ย that was hard to imagine a few years ago,โ Pegstar founder Jagi Katial said in a press release.
The lineup for White Oak’s remaining two indoor stages should be announced soon, he added.
This morning Pegstar also announced more shows at its adjoining venueย the Raven Tower, which opened last week. On tap before White Oak getsย underway are Seratone (2/26), DMA’s (3/15), Autolux (3/21), andย Austin bluegrass pickers Wood & Wire the same night of M83. Later onย in April will come Operators and Eleanor Friedberger.
Delta Spirit frontย man Matthew Logan Vasquez continues his micro-residency at the Raven thisย evening with Houston’s Buxton. Tickets for all shows are now available atย pegstar.net and whiteoakmusichall.com.
