This morning White Oak Music Hall, the deluxe multi-stage music venue now under construction on Houston’s near Northside, announced its grand opening date and initial concert lineup for its 40′ x 40′ outdoor stage. On tap for the opening weekend are the French electronic moodscapes of M83 (April 9); as well as young UK synth-pop trio CHVRCHES (April 29); and a multigenerational psych-pop rager on Memorial Day weekend featuring the Flaming Lips, Roky Erickson, Title Fight, DIIV and Nada Surf on May 29.
“I’m excited to see M83, CHVRCHES, and The Flaming Lips play outdoors with the downtown Houston skyline as the backdrop; that was hard to imagine a few years ago,” Pegstar founder Jagi Katial said in a press release.
The lineup for White Oak’s remaining two indoor stages should be announced soon, he added.
This morning Pegstar also announced more shows at its adjoining venue the Raven Tower, which opened last week. On tap before White Oak gets underway are Seratone (2/26), DMA’s (3/15), Autolux (3/21), and Austin bluegrass pickers Wood & Wire the same night of M83. Later on in April will come Operators and Eleanor Friedberger.
Delta Spirit front man Matthew Logan Vasquez continues his micro-residency at the Raven this evening with Houston’s Buxton. Tickets for all shows are now available at pegstar.net and whiteoakmusichall.com.
