This weekโsย streaming lineupย has a bit of everything: spinoffs, returns, and more Mormon drama than expected. Taylor Sheridanโsย Yellowstoneย universe grows, Netflix sails back into adventure withย One Pieceย 2nd season, andย The Secret Lives of Mormon Wivesย returns for more scandal, chaos and soda.
One Piece (Season 2) – Netflix
First up is One Piece, setting sail amid this eclectic streaming line-up.
The series tells the story of a young boy named Monkey D. Luffy, a pirate with dreams of becoming the King of the Pirates. After eating a mysterious Devil Fruit that grants him extraordinary powers, Luffy sets out across the Grand Line in search of the legendary treasure known as One Piece.
He assembles his crew, including a swordsman, a navigator, a sharpshooter and a chef. Together, they battle rival pirates, face warlords and explore a wild world.
The show blends comedy, swashbuckling adventure and heartfelt storytelling in a way that feels like anime brought fully to life. Some moments will make you laugh out loud, while others might have you covering your mouth after a particularly shocking line or twist.
The 2nd season raises the stakes by diving deeper into the lore and canon of the originalย One Pieceย manga and anime. Avoiding the dreaded sophomore slump can be difficult for any series, but Netflix once again proves adept at expanding its worlds and deepening the stories of characters audiences care about.
At its heart, One Piece is about friendship and camaraderie. Itโs about thinking singularly while acting collectively and embarking on the adventure of a lifetime. With its blend of action, humor and genuine heart, One Piece continues to be one of the most entertaining rides in streaming.
The Madison – Paramount+
We then pivot to The Madison.
Set within the ever-growing Yellowstone universe created by television powerhouse Taylor Sheridan, The Madison centers on a wealthy New York family that relocates to the Madison River Valley in Montana following a devastating tragedy.
The family hopes to rebuild their lives in the rugged American West, but, as in every story in Sheridanโs Yellowstoneworld, the land is only part of the equation. Family dynamics, shifting loyalties and the harsh realities of life on the frontier quickly come into play.
The series stars Michelle Pfeiffer and Kurt Russell, alongside Patrick J. Adams, best known as Mike Ross fromย Suits, and an impressive supporting cast. Sheridan has built a reputation for crafting compelling dramas that blend family, power and survival, andย The Madison appears poised to deliver on that same promise with characters youโll quickly find yourself invested in.
The first three episodes ofย The Madisonย premiere on Paramount Plus on March 14.
The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives (Season 4) – Hulu
Rounding out this weekโs picks is the guilty pleasure of the bunch.
Sometimes I get dragged into the depths of the streaming universe, and this show may very well reside somewhere within Danteโs circles of reality television. That would be The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives, now returning for its 4th season.
Iโll admit something: until last year, I had never seen a single second of the show. Then I saw Jen Affleck and Whitney Leavitt appearing on Dancing with the Stars and asked the obvious question: What exactly is The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives?
Someone told me to watch it. So I did.
Now, Iโm not exactly a reality television devotee, but I found myself fascinated by the sheer level of drama these women generate, not to mention the scandals that seem to follow them.
One storyline involved a โsoft swingingโ controversy that sent MomTok into a frenzy. Yes, that is a sentence I just wrote. Am I proud of it? I canโt say that I am. Did it make me laugh? Absolutely.
Season four arrives without some familiar faces. Whitney Leavitt has moved on to portray Roxie Hart on Broadway, while Taylor Frankie Paul has stepped into the spotlight as the new Bachelorette. Still, the remaining cast, including Jen, Demi, Mikayla, Macy, Jessi, Layla and Miranda, promise that the drama is far from over.
The 4th season of The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives streams on Hulu this week.
