Brazilian Independence Day Celebration at Yuma
Yuma, 4219 Washington, celebrates Brazilian Independence Day with all-day happy hour pricing, $9.70 caipirinhas and the debut of Yuma’s secret sandwich menu. New additions include the Croqueta Preparada with croquetas, ham and Gruyère, the Mané’s MuffaMorta with crispy mortadella and mozzarella and the Albondiga Sub with smoked picanha meatballs, tinga-style tomato sauce and mozzarella. Bar bites are three for $10 and cocktails are $10, with karaoke from 8 p.m. to midnight.

Cold Noodles Club at Eight Row Flint
Every Tuesday in September, Eight Row Flint Heights, 1039 Yale, hosts its Cold Noodles Club, offering cold noodle bowls from a rotating lineup of Houston chefs in collaboration with local nonprofit I’ll Have What She’s Having. Jun’s Henry Lu and Michael Ma will guest-chef this week, with bowls available from 6 p.m. until sold out. All proceeds will benefit preventive healthcare services for hospitality workers through IHWSH.

It’s Disco, Baby! Cocktail Pop-Up at Bludorn
Bludorn, 807 Taft, will host Seattle cocktail bar Rob Roy for It’s Disco, Baby!, a one-night cocktail collaboration from 5 to 8 p.m. The a la carte menu will feature six cocktails, including three from each bar, plus a boilermaker and bar snacks from Bludorn chef de cuisine Alexandra Peña. Reservations will be available through OpenTable.
Bourbon Heritage Month Cocktail Class at The Finn
HiFi at The Finn, 712 Main, is hosting a cocktail class featuring Texas bourbon company Unreined. Guests will learn about different bourbon styles and make classic cocktails with guided instruction, all ingredients and tools, a welcome mini cocktail and two drinks to make and enjoy. Tickets are $30 plus taxes and fees.

Trucktoberfest at Truck Yard
Truck Yard, 2118 Lamar, hosts its annual Oktoberfest celebration, bringing German-inspired eats, a limited-time Oktoberfest brew and a full lineup of contests, including a wiener dog race, stein hoisting, chicken dance and pretzel eating competitions. German drinking songs and Oktoberfest anthems run from 6 to 9 p.m. Entry is free. The event is 21+ after 9 p.m.
Celebration of the Flavors of Oaxaca at Caracol
Chef Hugo Ortega will welcome guest chef Kaelin Ulrich of Seasons of My Heart Cooking School in Oaxaca for a special dinner at Caracol, 2200 Post Oak, beginning at 6:30 p.m. Menu features include aguachile de hamachi, tostada de tomates criollos and snapper with mole manchamanteles, followed by barbacoa de Zaachila and Oaxacan chocolate nicuatole. Tickets are $150 per person plus tax and gratuity.

Italian Bounty Long Table Feast at Aperitivo
Aperitivo, 2940 Riverby, will host an Italian Bounty Long Table Feast from 6 to 8:30 p.m. The $70 prix fixe dinner includes shared antipasti, table-side pasta tossed in a Parmesan wheel, grilled steak and shrimp, sides and table-side tiramisu, plus a complimentary glass of Prosecco.

Hamsa and Badolina Bakery & Cafe, 5555 Morningside, are offering Rosh Hashanah specials for preorder, with pickup September 11 and 12. Hamsa’s $140 Feast for Four includes salatim, assorted pickles and olives, hummus, green and Israeli salads, round challah, apple honey cake and entree options from sliced ribeye to Moroccan fish. Badolina is also offering round challah and apple honey cake for preorder.

September is Hunger Action Month, and Houston Food Bank is spotlighting the growing challenge of food insecurity with this year’s theme, “The Cost of a Meal.” Throughout the month, Houstonians can get involved by donating, volunteering, advocating and learning more about the issues that make nutritious food harder to afford.

Rainbow Lodge, 2011 Ella, is welcoming fall with a $45 steak-and-cocktail special all September. Available at lunch and dinner, the Grilled Bistro Steak Frites comes with a charred 1855 Beef hanger steak, peppercorn sauce, arugula salad and fries, paired with a Texas Old Fashioned (or a glass of Cabernet Sauvignon).
BOY(Bag) Walking Tacos at Stuffed Belly
New this September: Bring your own bag of chips to Stuffed Belly, 8133 Long Point, and they’ll turn it into a Walking Taco, loaded with ground beef, queso, house sauce, lettuce, tomato and pickled jalapeno, for $7.
Sky High September at Traveler’s Table
Traveler’s Table, 520 Westheimer Road, is offering a $50 three-course dinner menu through September 30, with $3 from each menu sold donated to Sky High for Kids. Choose from globally inspired dishes including mochiko chicken, Nigerian suya, jungle ribs, shrimp moqueca and butter chicken.
