Well known for their vivid, vibrant painting, artists Blakely Bering and Austin James have also found success as dealers through their Bering & James Gallery. The gallery is hosting a milestone exhibit titled simply “100th” (it’s their 100th show). The exhibit, appropriately, features work by Bering and James. Expect ultra-colorful, emotional abstractions from Bering, who creates her own oil paints using powdered pigments and crushed metals. James also deals in abstractions; his coils and splashes of color use both paint and mixed media to reach their energetic crescendos. 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Mondays through Saturdays. Through July 9. 805 Rhode Place #500. For information, call 713-524-0101 or visit www.beringandjames.com. Free.
Mondays-Saturdays, 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Starts: July 12. Continues through Aug. 14, 2008
KEEP THE HOUSTON PRESS FREE... Since we started the Houston Press, it has been defined as the free, independent voice of Houston, and we'd like to keep it that way. With local media under siege, it's more important than ever for us to rally support behind funding our local journalism. You can help by participating in our "I Support" program, allowing us to keep offering readers access to our incisive coverage of local news, food and culture with no paywalls.
