14th Annual Red, Hot & Blue Festival

Celebrate the founding of the country with a hot dog-eating contest. That’s just part of the fun at the 14th Annual Red, Hot & Blue Festival in The Woodlands, a whole weekend of music, fireworks, food and family entertainment. Things start off on Sunday night with the Houston Symphony’s Star Spangled Salute, always a stirring concert.

On Monday, there’s a Fourth of July Parade in the morning and Splash Day activities at all area pools in the afternoon. The festival continues at Town Green Park, with the aforementioned hot dog-eating contest, attractions and family activities. The live music, including performances by Vertigo, Mingo Fishtrap and 11th Hour, starts at 6 p.m. on two stages. Then it’s the big finale, the fireworks show, at dusk. The Houston Symphony performs at 3 p.m. July 3. Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion, 2005 Lake Robbins Drive. Free. Event times vary for the Red, Hot & Blue Festival. 1601 Lake Robbins Drive. For information, call 281-363-2447 or visit www.redhotblue.org. Free.

(Due to weather conditions, the fireworks display may not be included. Check with festival organizers on the day of the festival for confirmation.)
