3rd Annual Ice Sculpting Competition

Many sculptors use blowtorches and chainsaws to create their work, whether they’re working in metal or stone. The seven participants in the 3rd Annual Ice Sculpting Competition work in a different medium — frozen water. Among the artists who will be working in front of the Discovery Green crowd will be Dan “Hollywood” Rebholz, one of only five certified Master Carvers in the United States, and Buddy Rasmussen of the Team Texas Chainsaw Massacre team, who was recently seen in the TLC special Chainsaw Ice Sculptors. Top performer Benjamin Rand and newcomer Julian Lee will be in attendance along with local favorite The Reverend Butter, who will be hosting the contest. At the end of the day, there’s an award ceremony and concert with Reverend Butter sculpting live to the music. 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. 1500 McKinney.
