A Christmas Carol — A Ghost Story of Christmas

The Alley Theatre helps melt the cheese factor in holiday happenings. The company’s annual take on Charles Dickens’s A Christmas Carol — A Ghost Story of Christmas includes some voodoo flavor — perfect for those who are tired of the same old humbug hem and haw. Sure, Scrooge gets the same reminders of past, present and future, but in this production they’re accompanied by some spooky, chain-clinking spirits that look fresh from a New Orleans grave. Their chilling “thriller” style makes this an offbeat ghost story and is the reason this seasonal standard is always a must-see. See Christmas, Cajun-style, this week at 2:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Starting December 4, the schedule is 7:30 p.m. Thursdays and Fridays, and 2:30 and 7:30 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays, with special showtimes during Christmas week. Through December 28. 615 Texas. For tickets and a complete schedule, call 713-220-5700 or visit www.alleytheatre.org. $38 to $67.
Tuesdays-Sundays. Starts: Nov. 21. Continues through Dec. 28, 2008
