Enjoy a program of meditative modern American music when the Rothko Chapel presents Adam Tendler: Night Thoughts. One of the highlights of the evening is sure to be Tendler's performance of Ned Rorem's complete published piano music composed for his late partner, James Holmes. On his blog, Tendler calls the collection ''postcards from one of the great romances in all of classical music.'' Rorem wrote the works not as a suite but as individual gifts to Holmes to commemorate birthdays and anniversaries. They are, as Tendler calls them on his blog, ''lean, understated little pieces.'' Tendler, a 2012 American Pianists Association Classical Fellowship Award nominee, will also perform the Houston premiere of his experimental homage to Tim McGraw in ''Only Every Other Memory,'' along with works by Samuel Barber, Aaron Copland and John Cage.
