Almost Famous

Admit it, if you could leave your couch right now and tour with an up-and-coming rock band, you would. No? What about as a teenager? We thought so. Almost Famous is the semiautobiographical tale of writer/producer/director Cameron Crowe's experience as a teenage journalist for Rolling Stone. The film follows William Miller, a Crowe-inspired youngster who runs away from home to tour with fictional rock group Stillwater for a potential cover story on his idol Lester Bangs (played by Philip Seymour Hoffman). William gets more than a story as his journey leads to witnessing band breakups and makeups, losing his virginity, a near-death experience in an airplane and everything else that goes along with a healthy dose of sex, drugs and rock and roll. 7:30 p.m. today and 3:30 p.m. tomorrow.
