We got a lot of response to our giveaway offer for two free VIP tickets to the Houston Press fourth annual Artopia party at Winter Street Studios on January 28.

And the person picked randomly from all our entrants is Mary B. The tickets get her into the private VIP area (less competition for drinks and a better chance to sit down) as well as all the performances at the celebration of all things arty and the people who are so inclined.

Besides the performances and the art on display on Saturday, we'll present checks and plaques to the 2012 winners of our MasterMind Awards competition and we'd appreciate it if you'd come out to cheer on these folks. Oh and there's food and all sorts of drink as well.

And don't forget, our MasterMind winners for 2012 will be featured in this week's copy of the Houston Press. Don't miss it.

Keep the Houston Press Free... Since we started the Houston Press, it has been defined as the free, independent voice of Houston, and we would like to keep it that way. Offering our readers free access to incisive coverage of local news, food and culture. Producing stories on everything from political scandals to the hottest new bands, with gutsy reporting, stylish writing, and staffers who've won everything from the Society of Professional Journalists' Sigma Delta Chi feature-writing award to the Casey Medal for Meritorious Journalism. But with local journalism's existence under siege and advertising revenue setbacks having a larger impact, it is important now more than ever for us to rally support behind funding our local journalism. You can help by participating in our "I Support" membership program, allowing us to keep covering Houston with no paywalls.
