Bayou City Bike Tours

Founded in 2012 by three native Houstonians who are strong advocates for a more bike-friendly, healthy and service oriented Houston, Bayou City Bike Tours aims to introduce (or reintroduce) the city to people from the vantage of two wheels instead of four. The company currently offers tours of downtown and a Heights Culture Tour. “We believe Houston’s diverse culture, relaxed attitude and rich history make it one of the most unique and desirable cities in the country,” says company cofounder Mia Garcia. “We have enjoyed bike tours in other cities in the U.S. and overseas and believe they offer visitors and local residents the best way to discover a city from the most intimate, hands-on perspective.” She adds that bikers for each tour split about evenly between natives and tourists, and the unique perspective and access from a bike make the tour different from any other. “From the freeways, you cannot see the unique architecture of many of our buildings, nor can you have the unique opportunity to take a picture in front of Houston’s awesome skyline,” Garcia adds. “And when you are driving, you can’t really enjoy your scenery because you have to worry about the next turn or light. On bike you can really see Houston differently.”
