When you think of music that goes great with beer drinking, a French horn trio isnt exactly the first thing that comes to mind. But in an interesting mash-up, the River Oaks Chamber Orchestra and Saint Arnold Brewing Company are putting horns and hops together for
Beer and Brass.
The musical portion will be led by horn player Gavin Reed. I dont think I know any brass players that dont drink beer! says Alecia Lawyer, ROCO founder and its principal oboist. ROCO is the most fun you can have with serious music, and [the program] will definitely include an old-fashioned drinking song. 6 to 8 p.m. Saint Arnold Brewing Company, 2000 Lyons Avenue. For information, call 713-665-2700 or visit www.rocohouston.org. $20.
Tue., Sept. 20, 6 p.m., 2011
