Best Dive Bar: 510 Bar
You might use the adjective unassuming to describe 510 Bar when you pull up to the gas station-anchored strip center in northwest Houston, but welcoming is probably the one you’ll use after you go inside. Cheap drinks, strong pours and enough smoke to make you feel like you are in an old detective movie, 510 caters to a remarkably diverse crowd for what might be called a suburban dive bar.
Karaoke is a particularly lively affair and their steak night is better than most. The bartenders are quick with a refill and Southern charm. It's full of locals most nights and boasts a pretty diverse crowd, particularly when the karaoke is cranked up. Given its location, you might also want to consider “hidden gem” when describing 510 to friends.
