Denise Hazen isn't afraid of the "C" word. She allowed CNN to tape her battle against breast cancer in the recent documentary Taming the Beast: Inside the War on Cancer, and her book, Treat Her Like a Princess, is a women's go-to resource for supporting a girlfriend with a deadly diagnosis. Today, Hazen will share stories from her newest book, The Silver Lining of Adversity. No one faces up to challenge quite like Hazen, so the opportunity to meet her in person shouldn't be missed. 9:30 to 11 a.m. Central Library, 500 McKinney. For information, call 832-393-1313 or visit www.houstonlibrary.org. Free.
