Arena Rock in all its 1980s glory — think REO Speedwagon, Pat Benatar, Foreigner, Bon Jovi and Twisted Sister to name a few — is due to arrive in Houston at the end of May, courtesy of Theatre Under the Stars and former American Idol finalist Constantine Maroulis.

Constantine segued from American Idol to Broadway and even earned a Tony nomination for his role as Drew in Rock of Ages. This is the first national tour of the rock musical that earned five Tony nominations including Best Musical.

In addition to the show itself, TUTS has scheduled several other tie-ins, including:

– A power ballads sing-along Tuesday May 3 at 8 p.m. at the Continental Club, 3700 Main Street. Aurora Picture Show is the co-host for a free screening including videos from the aforementioned arena rockers.

– A Saint Arnold Brewery pre-party and Rock of Ages package on Thursday June 2. Start out at the brewery, 2000 Lyons Avenue complete with drinks and appetizers and then take a school bus ride over to the Hobby Center, 800 Bagby, and finish off with a return to Saint Arnold after the show.

Rock of Ages runs May 31 through June 12 at the Hobby Center. Ticket information is available at 713-558-8887.
