December Artful Thursday: Starry Night - The Annual Ornament-Making Extravaganza

The Museum of Fine Arts, Houston's DIY-yuletide event December Artful Thursday: Starry Night - The Annual Ornament-Making Extravaganza puts a tasteful twist on tree trimming and gift giving. Sure, you could spring for a store-bought ornament that says, "I'm thinking of you during the holidays." But how about one that says, "I thought about you for as long as it takes to borrow safety scissors and wait for glue to dry." In keeping with the theme, design a sparkly, five- or six-pointed star (depending on the receiver's religious affiliation) influenced, perhaps, by the stunning visual arts around you. Or close your eyes and open your ears for some aural inspiration provided by the Gulf Coast Harpers. 5 to 8 p.m. 1001 Bissonnet. For information, call 713-639-7300 or visit www.mfah.org. Free.
