Donยt Fight It! was intended to be part dance night, part cultural study and all party. ยThe initial goal was more of a social experiment: to use music as a merger between curious ยouter-Loopersย in Polo shirts and ยhipster elitistsย in skinny jeans,ย says DJ Dave Wrangler, who is also known in these parts as one-half of the monthly country music installment Vinyl Ranch. He, along with fellow turntabler Piss Heavy (Yep, thatยs really his moniker) and promoter Young $quaddy, mashes up the tunes of artists such as The Virgins, MGMT, Prodigy, UGK, Joy Division and Kanye West for a sound that appeals to 281ers and 713ers. See see-and-be-seeners from both sides of the Loop unite on the dance floor at 10 p.m. Boondocks, 1417 Westheimer. For information, call 713-522-8500 or visit www.myspace.com/boondocksbar. Free.
