In the documentary Super Size Me, Morgan Spurlock famously investigated the health results of an all McDonald’s fast food diet. In
Doug Benson's 2008’s Super High Me, the stoner comic investigated (we use the word loosely) a no-pot-at-all-for-30 days regimen followed by as-much-
pot-as-possible for the next 30 days. Guess which he preferred. (He may have gained weight during the smoking
month.) Many fans at his live shows are in somewhat altered states, but Benson says he prefers a stoned audience to
an inebriated kind. “Drunks heckle. And then don’t shut up when you insult them and make the entire crowd laugh,” he
said during an interview on collegehumor.com. “They think, ‘Hey, I’m a part of this; I’m really helping out.’ Drunks won’t do what you ask them to. They are the worst part of live comedy because they get so out of control. Yet clubs make their money by selling booze, so it’s my job to put up with them.”
Benson has released several albums and hosts a film-themed podcast, Doug Loves Movies. Oh, and there’s the weekly Internet podcast Getting Doug with High, where he gets stoned with his guests (like Tommy Chong, Aubrey Plaza and Sarah Silverman) and they talk about... you know, stuff. Or whatever comes to their clouded minds.
