Earth Day Houston

Say happy birthday to Discovery Green during today’s Earth Day festivities. There’s a Mothers for Clean Air Earth Day 5K, green transportation, green art, green learning games, a green farmer’s market, green music, green food — oh, wait. No, it’s normal music and food, but the folks behind the event, Mothers for Clean Air and the Galveston-Houston Association for Smog Prevention, made sure everything else is as green as physically possible. (Do you think they had a hand in naming Discovery Green?) 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. 1500 McKinney. For information, call 713-333-1161 or visit
Sat., April 11, 9 a.m.-6 p.m., 2009
KEEP THE HOUSTON PRESS FREE... Since we started the Houston Press, it has been defined as the free, independent voice of Houston, and we'd like to keep it that way. With local media under siege, it's more important than ever for us to rally support behind funding our local journalism. You can help by participating in our "I Support" program, allowing us to keep offering readers access to our incisive coverage of local news, food and culture with no paywalls.
