If you read about fashion, you have been reading quite a lot about Houston's own Elaine Turner lately. The handbag and shoe designer recently sent pieces down the runway with Chloe Dao's latest collection at Fashion Houston, and she was also named a 2011 Women's Chamber of Commerce Texas Business Woman of the Year finalist at the Take Charge Live Conference in Austin.

Tootsies on Westheimer has a full lineup of amazing trunk shows in November, including a two-day Elaine Turner event on November 8 and 9. Turner's designs are created with a "fantasy destination and muse in mind" and her current collection is based around the sights and sounds of Paris, with Audrey Hepburn as muse. You have seen Turner's designs on The Today Show, featured in Oprah Magazine, Real Simple, Lucky and People StyleWatch.

Fashionistas won't want to miss the chance to own a piece from Turner's Paris-inspired collection of bags and shoes. Shop the Elaine Turner trunk show at Tootsies on November 8 and 9 between 10 a.m. and 7 p.m. To see more, visit Elaine Turner's Web site.

Keep the Houston Press Free... Since we started the Houston Press, it has been defined as the free, independent voice of Houston, and we would like to keep it that way. Offering our readers free access to incisive coverage of local news, food and culture. Producing stories on everything from political scandals to the hottest new bands, with gutsy reporting, stylish writing, and staffers who've won everything from the Society of Professional Journalists' Sigma Delta Chi feature-writing award to the Casey Medal for Meritorious Journalism. But with local journalism's existence under siege and advertising revenue setbacks having a larger impact, it is important now more than ever for us to rally support behind funding our local journalism. You can help by participating in our "I Support" membership program, allowing us to keep covering Houston with no paywalls.
