Erik the Viking

His land under perpetual darkness, one heroic Viking (played by Tim Robbins) decides to ask the gods for some sunlight in the satirical comedy Erik the Viking. As is typical in these tales, the gods live in a place that’s far away and hard to get to. Erik has a difficult journey ahead of him, running into a happy torturer (John Cleese) and a rapist (Jim Broadbent). Making a comedy with a torturer and rapist among the characters isn’t easy, but director Terry Jones, of Monty Python fame, manages to do just that. Mickey Rooney and Eartha Kitt also appear. 8:30 p.m. Domy Books, 1709 Westheimer. For information, call 713-523-3669 or visit Free.
