Roughly three years after shooting began in 2008, Terrence Malick’s long-awaited film The Tree of Life, starring Brad Pitt and Sean Penn, has a scheduled opening date: May 27, 2011.
And this weekend, moviegoers will finally get a sneak peek–the full trailer for Tree of Life will debut before screenings of Darren Aronofsky’s Black Swan.
Malick’s film, carefully under wraps and postponed for over a year, was partially shot in Houston. Locations included the Museum of Fine Arts and Rich’s nightclub.
Art Attack has a small connection with the film. I assisted the casting director in the Houston auditions. Sadly, though, it didn’t score me as much as a walk-on. I was, however, fortunate to observe Malick and Penn during shooting at the MFAH in 2008. So this is exciting news.
