Gallery Scene: Opening This Week

This week, we recommend a "growing" exhibit at the tiny Rice U. Matchbox Gallery, animal-skin-inspired jewelry at Houston Center for Contemporary Craft and gnarly graphics at M2 Gallery, among others.

Logan Sebastian Beck: Grass Houses Beck begins a mysterious transformation called the "Grass House," in which he will document and post pictures daily on the Matchbox website. Opens Thursday, December 9, 7-9 p.m., Matchbox Gallery at Rice University

Boarded Up: The Art of Surf and Skate Neopopstreetfunk presents this exhibition of over 250 skateboard decks and surfboards painted by over 100 Houston and national artists. Proceeds go to The Surfrider Foundation, a grassroots non-profit organization dedicated to the protection of the world's oceans, waves and beaches through conservation, activism, research and education. Jill Moser: Editions Moser's third solo show at Wade Wilson includes recent prints as well as examples of her collaborative project with poet Charles Bernstein.
