Gulf Coast 2014 - 2015 Reading Series: November, 2014

Don’t call this a poetry reading — at least not in the traditional sense. The Gulf Coast 2014-2015 Reading Series features a slew of fantastic poets and a number of jaw-dropping creative writers from the University of Houston’s acclaimed graduate program in creative writing. Today’s program includes poets Luisa Muradyan and Elizabeth Lyons, along with fiction novelist Talia Mailman. (Muradyan and Mailman are assistant poetry editor and non-fiction editor respectively for Gulf Coast, A Journal of Literature and Fine Arts.) And as a bonus, the emerging wordsmiths take the stage at Rudyard’s Pub in Montrose. A few craft brews, a little bit of stellar poetry and some great fiction — what’s not to like?

7 p.m. Rudyards, 2010 Waugh. For information, call 713-743-3223 or visit gulfcoastmag.org. Free.
Fri., Nov. 7, 7 p.m., 2014
