Hermann Park Switches It up With Its Parking. Get Ready.

Starting today, Parking Lot C at Hermann Park -- the one outside the Houston Garden Center, the Houston Museum of Natural Science and Miller Outdoor Theatre -- is no more.

Instead, a new, bigger lot -- also called Parking Lot C -- will open in its place today. To get to it, drive along Hermann Drive and enter at either Jackson or Crawford streets.

There will even be landscaping to help keep the lot cooler (temperature wise) than its predecessor.

Good news for summertime music and Houston Shakespeare Festival goers who've spent hours wandering around in the dark looking for their vehicles after the close of a show: " New pedestrian connections to Miller Outdoor Theatre will enable easy access for concert goers from the new lot to the Theatre," a press release announces. And:

Head-in parking will no longer be available on the east side of Caroline Street between Hermann Park Drive and Hermann Drive in front of the Houston Museum of Natural Science.

A revised parking map, including all lots that service Hermann Park, can be viewed on the Hermann Park website.
