Get some old-school knowledge at the Houston Center for Photography Family Day. The event will awaken your inner artist as you go back to the basics with the 19th-century art of cyanotypes. Using just sunlight and a few items from the local drugstore, everyone will create these famous blue-and-white X-ray look-alikes. The annual event also offers other activities such as creating collages, exploring a digital darkroom and taking free Christmas card-ready family portraits, handily combining photographys golden age and the current digital age. 1 to 4 p.m. 1441 West Alabama. For information, call 713-529-4755 or visit www.hcponline.org. Free.
