Inprint Summer 2009 Writers Workshops

Most of us know Inprint for its reading series, but the nonprofit doesn’t just present writers — it trains them, too. During the Inprint Summer 2009 Writers Workshops, local writers will spend eight weeks working with some of Houston’s most prestigious authors, playwrights and poets to learn how to turn a phrase and set a scene. Mildred’s Umbrella Theater Company’s resident playwright John Harvey and short story writer Gabriela Maya are among the workshop instructors. Hours and days vary. 1520 West Main. For information, call 713-521-2026 or visit www.inprinthouston.org. $275.

Mondays-Saturdays. Starts: June 1. Continues through June 27, 2009

KEEP THE HOUSTON PRESS FREE... Since we started the Houston Press, it has been defined as the free, independent voice of Houston, and we'd like to keep it that way. With local media under siege, it's more important than ever for us to rally support behind funding our local journalism. You can help by participating in our "I Support" program, allowing us to keep offering readers access to our incisive coverage of local news, food and culture with no paywalls.
