Writer/director Doron Benvenisti’s 2007 Bittersweet centers around a group of friends in Tel Aviv. Despite their apparently idyllic lives, each is actually facing a life-changing decision. Ran’s mother, who has Alzheimer’s, has asked him to help her commit suicide. Dana’s pregnant, but her husband isn’t the father. David must decide between his gay lover or a conventional marriage. When a clairvoyant makes unsettling predictions about each of them, facades start to crack and secrets come to light. 7:30 p.m. Jewish Community Center, 5601 South Braeswood. For information, call 713-729-3200 or visit www.jcchouston.org. $7 to $9.
