Kids who are still more interested in Saturday morning cartoons than stuffy old art will find today’s free Family Flicks screening, Linnea in Monet’s Garden, pretty fun. The animated Swedish movie, a 1994 Parents Choice Award winner, is just 30 minutes long and based on a popular book about a young girl who visits Monet’s Paris. Linnea and her neighbor wander through the picturesque landscape, pointing out spots recognizable from the Impressionist’s paintings. They also explain Monet’s painting techniques. Linnea in Monet’s Garden is a cool half hour that cleverly disguises any learning as fun. Presented in conjunction with the Museum’s exhibition "Monet and the Seine: Impressions of a River."
