Lucia di Lammermoor

Soprano Natalie Dessay reprises the role she triumphed in in 2007 with Lucia di Lammermoor, the encore presentation of the latest in Met Opera LIVE in HD series. Dessay is Lucia, an innocent, delicate Scotswoman who’s being used as a pawn in a power game between her family and a rival clan. Both Lucia and her lover Edgardo (Joseph Calleja) are deceived into thinking they’ve been abandoned by the other, and Lucia is forced into a marriage with a man she doesn’t love. When she finds out the truth, she goes mad and kills her husband, then collapses. As she lies dying, her lover kills himself, hoping to see her in heaven. Yes, it’s tragic, but brilliantly so. Houston Grand Opera’s Music Director Patrick Summers is at the podium. 6:30 p.m. Various locations, including Houston Marq*E Stadium 22 plus IMAX, 7620 Katy Freeway.
