Max Juren

Max Juren is vying for YouTube stardom. Granted, this means he’s competing with sleep-running dogs, kids getting kicked by breakdancers and a guy named Old Gregg pursuing a hipster. (By the way, if you haven’t seen these, Google them now, ‘cause they are hi-lar-i-ous). But Juren holds his own. Under the username “jaxneuron,” the Austinite has garnered a small following with irreverent and off-kilter skits à la Adult Swim’s Tim and Eric Awesome Show, Great Job! Imagine a surfer-looking dude re-enacting the “Let’s Get Together” scene from The Parent Trap, riding Falcor from The Neverending Story and starring in commercials for Heinz Ketchup and Lone Star Beer. See these and more of Juren’s email forward-worthy contenders when he screens a selection of clips from his recently released DVD. 8 p.m. Domy Books, 1709 Westheimer.
