MECA Feast Day of Our Lady of Guadalupe

It is said that in 1531 the Virgin of Guadalupe appeared before a poor native Mexican named Juan Diego on Tepeyac Hill in Mexico City. Today her shrine there receives ten million visitors each year; Pope John Paul II himself has paid his respects. MECA celebrates the Feast Day of Our Lady of Guadalupe with a procession around the Old Sixth Ward, a performance by the group's ballet folkórico students, music by Mariachi MECA and hot chocolate and pan dulce for all.
