Earlier this week, we learned that Sundance Cinemas had announced they would open their Houston location on November 23, to the delight of arthouse lovers across the city. Now, local indie film enthusiasts have another reason to fawn over the movie theater chain, as it brings part of the renowned Sundance Film Festival to Houston in January as part of Sundance Film Festival U.S.A.
According to Sundance's website, the film festival "dispatches nine filmmakers from Park City to nine cities across the country to screen and discuss their direct-from-Festival films with audiences." Houston is the only city in Texas chosen for the 2012 Sundance Film Festival U.S.A. event.
The screenings will be announced in December, but tickets may go on sale before then. For more information, check out www.sundance.org.
