Doorman Actors Lab has picked an emotionally and physically intense script for its inaugural show. In Maria Irene Fornes’s Mud, protagonist Mae works valiantly to pull herself out of poverty, taking literacy classes as she cares for her ill foster brother. The situation unravels when the young woman, after entering a relationship with an older man, decides running away is her only option.
