Call it what you want -- a pleasant surprise, a shocking turn of events, a Christmas miracle -- but today brings exciting news for Houston comedy fans: Dave Chappelle will be visiting us again. And soon.
Like, really soon. A week from Saturday (December 13), to be precise.
Tickets for the show go on sale Tuesday at noon, and if you want to purchase them you should probably start rearranging your lunch schedule accordingly because this show will probably sell out quick. This will be Chappelle's first show in Houston proper in something like forever. His most recent trip to the Houston area was up in The Woodlands last August as part of the Oddball Comedy Festival, where we noted that he still had a ways to go on the comeback trail. We, like many of you, are looking forward to seeing what kind of difference a year (plus a few months) makes.
Keep the Houston Press Free... Since we started the Houston Press, it has been defined as the free, independent voice of Houston, and we would like to keep it that way. Offering our readers free access to incisive coverage of local news, food and culture. Producing stories on everything from political scandals to the hottest new bands, with gutsy reporting, stylish writing, and staffers who've won everything from the Society of Professional Journalists' Sigma Delta Chi feature-writing award to the Casey Medal for Meritorious Journalism. But with local journalism's existence under siege and advertising revenue setbacks having a larger impact, it is important now more than ever for us to rally support behind funding our local journalism. You can help by participating in our "I Support" membership program, allowing us to keep covering Houston with no paywalls.
