"Omar Angel Perez: Stilett"O"s"

Anyone who regularly suffers blisters and back pain thanks to their fabulous, fabulous shoes will feel better after hearing the words artist Omar Angel Perez has uttered in promoting his collection of fanciful stilettos: "I offer my gratitude to all women who endure the torture of wearing such heels," he's said. You may be less at ease with the University of Houston-trained woodworker, however, when you see the creations on display in "Omar Angel Perez: Stilett"O"s" at the Houston Center for Contemporary Craft. One pair, around a foot in height with heels like fencing foils, and another that features saw blades in place of straps, would strike fear in the heart of even Victoria Beckham. Still, as the shoes are unique and totally gorgeous, we wouldn't be surprised to see someone go the distance - or the height - for the sake of style. 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesdays through Saturdays, noon to 5 p.m. Sundays.
