On Our Streaming Radar this week we have the return of several streaming favorites and an adaptation likely to spark plenty of binge-watching. Weโ€™ll also get answers about how stories continueโ€”especially when one series leaves us with perhaps the biggest cliffhanger in streaming history.

The Night Agent โ€” Netflix

First, The Night Agent returns for a new season. The series follows a low-level FBI agent on the White House night phoneโ€”a line that never rings until it finally does. One call thrusts him into a massive conspiracy with spies, assassins, and powerful government figures. As he races to uncover the truth, he must protect a young tech CEO who may be the key to stopping a national security threat.

Weโ€™ve known the show would continue since Season 2, when a third season was already announced. If you havenโ€™t checked it out yet, hereโ€™s a key stat: the first season was Netflixโ€™s third most-viewed debut and became its sixth most-viewed series within a month.

There are clearly many fans excited to see Gabriel Basso return as Peter Sutherland when the new season begins streaming this week.

56 Days โ€” Prime Video

Coming to Prime Video is 56 Days, an adaptation of the novel by Catherine Ryan Howard.

In 56 Days, two Dublin strangers move in together during lockdown, but suspicion rises when a decomposed body is later found in their apartment, and detectives unravel lies and hidden identities.

Executive produced by James Wan, the erotic thriller starring Dove Cameron as Sierra Wise and Avan Jogia as Oliver Kennedy, explores trust and deception under lockdown.

The series premieres on Prime Video on February 18.

Dark Winds โ€”  AMC+

In the realm of โ€œif youโ€™ve seen it, youโ€™re a fan of itโ€ฆ but you might be late to the party,โ€ weโ€™re shining a spotlight on Dark Winds, now entering its fourth season.

Based on the Leaphorn & Chee novels by Tony Hillerman and Anne Hillerman, the series stars Zahn McClarnon and Kiowa Gordon as Joe Leaphorn and Jim Chee, respectively. Set in the 1970s, it follows Navajo tribal police officers investigating a double murder. Their search draws them into corruption, spiritual conflict, and trauma rooted in the land and among the Navajo people.

The series is executive produced by George R.R. Martin and the late Robert Redford, both of whom made uncredited cameo appearances as detainees in the third-season premiere. Notably, it was Redfordโ€™s final acting role before his passing in September of last year.

The show airs on AMC and AMC+. While its fan base is nearing cult status, this fourth season could push it into the mainstreamโ€”what was once “water-cooler television” might now dominate TikTok.

The Last Thing He Told Me โ€” Apple TV

Finally, this week on Apple TV+, The Last Thing He Told Me returns, starring Jennifer Garner and based on the bestselling novel by Laura Dave.

The series was developed by Dave herself alongside her husband, Josh Singer, with Garner in the lead role as Hannah Hall. The first season debuted nearly three years ago, in April 2023, and about a year later, a second season was announced โ€” even though many viewers wondered how the story could possibly continue beyond the book.

After all, Season One ended on what I told Garner might be โ€œthe greatest cliffhanger, maybe in cinematic or movie or television history,โ€ especially considering the bookโ€™s seemingly definitive conclusion. Garner laughed and explained that the idea of continuing the story didnโ€™t come easily at first. As she put it, Laura Dave initially felt the story was finished โ€” โ€œdone, one and done. Have fun.โ€

But audiences werenโ€™t ready to leave the world behind. Garner recalled how readers, viewers, and the creative team all felt there was more to explore. She told me that even before production began on Season One, the conversation lingered. Eventually, Dave began reconsidering the possibilities, saying, โ€œI think I have an idea. Iโ€™m just going to sit down and see what happens.โ€

At that moment, Garner said, she energized everyone involved. The response from the team was immediate: โ€œYeah, do that. Do that. What can we bring you so you stay seated โ€” and keep seeing what happens.โ€

That process ultimately led not only to a second season of the series, but also to a second novel โ€” proof that sometimes the next chapter starts simply by seeing where the story wants to go.
