Soon after the late-2001 anthrax scare put an already paranoid America into panic mode, the legendary New York metal band Anthrax issued a press release: “…we are changing the name of the band to something more friendly, Basket Full of Puppies.” Of course, the missive went on to say that they would never change the name, because it was merely coincidence. “Before the tragedy of September 11th the only thing scary about Anthrax was our bad hair in the Eighties and the Fistful of Metal album cover.”

The bacteria scare has since subsided, and last year all the original members of the band ย— vocalist Joey Belladonna, bassist Frank Bello, guitarists Scott “Cut Your Freaking Goatee Already” Ian and Daniel Spitz and drummer Charlie Benante ย— reunited. Today at Warehouse Live, fans will get a special treat from the group that formed more than two decades ago. Today’s gig is one of only four dates on their national tour, and they’ll be playing their classic 1987 album, Among the Living, from start to finish.
