Papermoons

At first listen, Papermoons can sound a little over-sentimental. Local duo Matt Clark and Daniel Hawkins pen poppy, sweet, poetic ballads about the darker side of love. It might make you roll your eyes — that is, until your sweetie says “so long” and you’re left shuffling through records to find that song to play over and over again. Clark and Hawkins wear their hearts on their sleeves so you don’t have to, with lyrics such as “And if I knew then, what I know now / I wouldn’t try to sing, just clap my hands / And shake my hips…and sing along.” Also on the bill are north-side rockers The Western Civilization. 8 p.m. Walter’s, 4215 Washington. For information, call 713-862-2513 or visit www.4215washington.com. $7.
