Pin Oak Charity Horse Show

Can you tell an American Saddlebred from an Andalusian or a Lusitano? You’ll certainly be able to after attending the Pin Oak Charity Horse Show. During the two-week event, spectators, from novices to experts, will see plenty of finely tailored riding jackets, carefully braided manes, lots of top hats and general primness. But the fanciness shouldn’t belie the athleticism of the riders and the horses — as well as the significant cash generated for Texas Children’s Hospital. Throughout the event, which features dressage, jumping and several other styles of riding, adults and children compete for prizes, while the fans indulge in gala dinners and shop for everything from vintage tack to fine art. 8 a.m. March 23. Through April 3. Great Southwest Equestrian Center, 2501 South Mason Road, Katy. For a full schedule, call 713-621-6290 or visit www.pinoak.org. Free to $10.
Mondays-Sundays. Starts: March 23. Continues through April 3, 2011
