Poison Pen Reading Series

The Poison Pen Reading Series gets the wham-bam-thank-you-ma'am treatment from the editors of Gulf Coast Magazine as each of the staffers from the University of Houston's literary journal will dash through pieces of poetry, fiction or nonfiction and then pass the mike. "It's rapid-fire: Every one of [our] ten editors reads for four minutes apiece, in quick succession," says Managing Editor Sean Bishop in an e-mail. Hear (briefly) from Bishop, Laurie Ann Cedilnik, Zack Bean, Mike Jones, Chuck Carlise, Liz Countrymen and more. 8:30 p.m. Poison Girl, 1641 Westheimer.
