Public Poetry: Michael Berryhill, Chris Carmona, Anis Shivani, Dulcie "Digh" Veluthukaran

Poet/novelist Anis Shivani, one of the writers reading from their work at today's installment of Public Poetry, says he might not ever again write in as overtly political a style as he did in his 2012 release My Tranquil War and Other Poems. Written from 2001 to 2011, Tranquil War reflects the chaos and crisis that were going on in the world at the time. While Tranquil War's direct political tack is different from that in his other work, Shivani says, "It seemed appropriate at the time. I felt that was what I needed to say and how I needed to say it."

Michael Berryhill, Chris Carmona and Dulcie "Digh" Veluthukaran share the podium with Shivani during the afternoon's readings.
