Photographer/adventurer/cookbook author Ree Drummond proudly says, "I'm the wife of a rugged cowboy. I'm the mother of four spirited children. I have horse poop on my porch." Alrightly then. We're not sure how she trained the horse to poop on the porch (and we're not even gonna guess about where those four spirited children relieve themselves), but we do know Drummond's book, The Pioneer Woman Cooks, Recipes from an Accidental Country Girl, is packed with witty (if sometimes weird) reflections on life and most importantly, food on the ranch. Recipes include mouthwatering rib-eye steak with whisky cream sauce and perfect pico de gallo, each with dazzling step-by-step photographs. (The Pioneer Woman Cooks is at home on the coffee table, next to the other pretty books, or on a kitchen shelf, within easy reach of a frying pan.) Drummond signs The Pioneer Woman Cooks from 1 to 3 p.m. today. Blue Willow Bookshop, 14532 Memorial. For information, call 281-497-8675 or visit www.bluewillowbookshop.com. Free.
