Ridley Pearson

Author Ridley Pearson has left the usual gritty urban setting of most thriller novels behind. Instead, his newest release, Killer Summer (the third so far in the Killer series) is set in Sun Valley, a resort area for the rich and famous. In it, Sheriff Walt Fleming (based on Sun Valley's real-life lawman of the same name) is busy chasing down a gang of crooks. The trouble is, he's not exactly sure what the thieves are after - and that's exactly the way the bad guys like it.

Pearson's skills at solving fictional crimes have spilled over into real life - they earned him a spot on the FBI task force on the Washington D.C. sniper case, and the research methods in his 1988 novel Undercurrents once aided prosecutors in a homicide case. You can ask him about solving crime - both on paper and in real life - at today's reading and signing session. 6:30 p.m. Murder by the Book, 2342 Bissonnet.
