Rubber Duckie Celebration

Generations of kids have grown up with Sesame Street and its beloved cast of characters. There’s Big Bird, Cookie Monster, Bert, Ernie and Ernie’s favorite bath toy, Rubber Duckie. This week, the Children’s Museum of Houston is throwing the squeak toy a birthday bash, the Rubber Duckie Celebration. (Duckie will be 42 years old, in case you’re wondering.) There’s no birthday cake, but there is plenty of fun. Kids can stop by the EcoStation to listen to various bird calls, examine nest engineering or stop by craft stations and game booths. And everyone can go home wearing a handmade duck bill. 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays, 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Thursdays, and noon to 6 p.m. Sundays. 1500 Binz. Tuesdays-Sundays. Starts: Jan. 9. Continues through Jan. 16, 2011
