Sanders Family Christmas

With a rich choice of versions of the classic A Christmas Carol in the Houston area, the enterprising Texas Repertory Theatre Company breaks from the pack to present Sanders Family Christmas, a toe-tapping, foot-stomping bluegrass musical. Texas Rep audiences first met the Sanders family in 2007 with a production of Smoke on the Mountain, and now have a chance to renew the acquaintanceship. In 1941, as their eldest son prepares to leave for WWII, the gospel-singing Sanders family gathers in a small church to share stories amid a rousing collection of Christmas tunes. Stephen Fenley, artistic director of Texas Rep, calls Sanders Family Christmas “a bluegrass tune-filled anthem to family, community and love.”
