Sherlock’s Comedy Open Mike

Sherlock’s Comedy Open Mike brings laughter back to a familiar setting. “[Sherlock’s on West Gray] used to be the Laff Stop, and that’s where most of the comedians started,” says host/joke slinger Ryan Thauburn. Houston’s legendary comedy club moved down the road a couple years back, and the original Laff Stop location was converted into a bar, Sherlock’s. But Thauburn and fellow comic Sam Demeris didn’t want to see an old friend die. “They still got a great stage, great seating…it’s a good situation for us,” says Thauburn. Sit back and watch local talent, including seen-on-TV faces like Bob Biggerstaff and Sheng Weng. Or get up there yourself — anyone can take the stage, so feel free to sign up. If you’re nervous, maybe the $2 wells and domestics will loosen you up. 10 p.m. Sundays. Sherlock’s Baker St. Pub, 1952-A West Gray. For information, call 713-521-1881 or visit Free.
Sundays, 10 p.m. Starts: Sept. 13. Continues through Dec. 20, 2009
